What you Need to Know about a Speeding Fine Calculator

Speeding fine calculators can tell you how much you might have to pay if you have been caught speeding. One of the benefits of this type of calculator is that you can see how much your fine is likely to be.

This is even before your Notice of intended prosecution arrives.

Why you Should use a Speeding Fine Calculator

It is vital that you use our speeding fine calculator so that you know how much money your fine could be. The good news is you do not have to add any personal details to the calculator.

Simply work out how fast you were likely to have been driving and the speed limit of the road you were driving on. You will have to input your yearly income.

This is so the calculator can determine how much the sentencing council and magistrates courts will want you to pay.

What the Calculator Tells you

When you enter the details into the calculator it will tell you how much your fine is likely to be. It cannot tell you what the outcome could be if you have plead guilty to speeding offences in the past.

If you already have 12 points on your driving licence there’s a real chance you could be disqualified from driving. However, one of our lawyers could help your case.

Please be aware that your fine could depend on the circumstances that surround the speeding offence. However, the maximum you’ll have to pay is £1,000.

If you were snapped by one of the many speed cameras on the motorway you could face a fine of up to £2,500.  This is why you need to use a speeding fine calculator as it will help you understand how large your fine could be.

Knowing how much a fine is likely to be could help you save up for it or encourage you to hire a lawyer to represent you. Please note, our lawyers have managed to get the police to offer a speeding driver a place on a speed awareness course.

This was the case even when the driver was not originally offered a case on the course.

How a Speeding Fine is Calculated

In 2017, changes to speeding fines meant that from then on a fine will be based on your relevant weekly income. For example, if you were driving at 1 to 10 miles per hour over the speed limit you could get a fine of 25 – 75% of your weekly wage.

You could also have 3 points added to your licence.  If you were driving at 11 to 20 miles per hour over the speed limit you could get a fine of 75 – 125% of your weekly wage.

You could also be disqualified from driving for 7 to 28 days. If you were driving at 21 miles per hour over the speed limit you could get a fine of 125 – 175% of your weekly wage.

You could have from 6 to 12 points added to your licence. However, you may instead receive a driving disqualification which could last from 7 to 56 days.

There is always a chance that you could receive a driving ban.

Speed Awareness Courses

Many people receive penalty notices that state they have the option to attend a speed awareness course. A speeding fine calculator will not be able to determine whether you will be offered a place on a course.

Our lawyers have managed to get the police to offer a speeding driver a place on a speed awareness course. This was the case even when the driver was not originally offered a place on the course.
