As you may have seen in the newsletter from early October, 74 year old John Anderson received a speeding ticket for driving at 60mph on a motorway, and spent £12,000 on his defense.
And this was just to have the case thrown out the day before he was due in Court, meaning that he couldn’t claim back a single penny of his legal costs…
But even if the case hadn’t been thrown out at the last moment and he’d won in Court the next day, he would still not have been able to claim most of his legal costs back!
Since about 5 years ago, you can now only claim back your legal costs if you win based on Legal Aid rates, and not the rates that Solicitors actually charge you.
Typically this will be around 1/3 of what you spend, although in this case I believe it would be even less than that.
I’ve been thinking quite a lot about this perverted system recently.
I ran the numbers yesterday and only 6.72% of BTST Members are also DriveProtect Members.
I had the thought that perhaps the the other 95.28% may not like the idea of a monthly Membership fee?
So, I’ve had the idea of offering a limited number of DriveProtect lifetime Memberships to BTST Members.
And I’d like to ask what you think of the idea?
Poll: Would you be interested in a Lifetime DriveProtect Membership?
All the best,
Adam
